Lost by the Odd Goal (Again)

Bare bones 7 this week, with Al helping us out. Playing Boca Seniors who are always a tough test with players that enjoy a competitive (!) game. No Andy, Jake, Gary, Sean, Crofty, Matt … the list on non-available was (almost) endless. So we had Goose, Paul, Phil, Joe, Mark, Al and Martin, but how would it pan out.

Competitive first half, both sides played well, everything was fairly finely balanced, not much between the sides. Mid way through the first 20 minutes, Boca strung a few good passes together, a one two, a shot at goal, defensive clearances, but it ended with a shot that Goose could not resist, 0 - 1 down. Not much between the sides for the rest of the first half.

Second half was much the same, though we probably managed to create more attacking chances and at one point had Boca under periods of sustained pressure. They resisted, created a few chances of their own, one of which was only repelled by Paul on the goal line. Someone said he was always a bit repellant, so no surprise there!

Was a 0 - 1 defeat the right result, NO. Not saying we should have won, but we didn't deserve to lose.
